International Women Leaders Global Security Summit
From the recent Kentucky women’s conference
kentucky.com brings an article from Geena’s keynote speech at the recent conference “In the Interest of Women”, arranged by Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky.
Throughout much of her career, actress Geena Davis has chosen roles that depict strong women “steering their own course” in life. That’s not entirely by accident.
“We give women so few opportunities to feel pumped when they see a movie,” she said.
Davis was a keynote speaker at Toyota Motor Manufacturing’s In the Interest of Women conference, which drew a crowd of more than 1,000 to Heritage Hall yesterday. She also spoke Monday during a mirror version of the conference in Louisville. Davis, who peppered her talk with humor and personal anecdotes, said she struggled as a youth because she was taller than her classmates and felt uncoordinated.

Accidents Happen – luckily!
Geena has signed up for a new movie, the details are available for pro IMDb-users. A source tells us:
Geena will play Mrs. Conway in Accidents Happen, due out in 2009.
“15 year old Billy Conway has been an accident magnet since he was a kid. When he and his best friend cause an almighty crash with a bowling ball and a moving car, Billy must face up to his family’s history and learn that sometimes someone is to blame and that sometimes… well, accidents just happen.”
From AFM/American Film Market:
“15-year-old Billy Conway believes that the world is a dangerous place and that accidents can happen at any time. His strongly held belief is based on bitter experience – from a very young age Billy has found himself inexplicably drawn to extremes of injury and misadventure. Billy’s story is the surprising tale of how a good boy’s bad behaviour might just manage to save his very dysfunctional family.”

Updates coming up
I am sorry for the recent lack of updates around here – due to my oldest son (8) having heart surgery, I arranged for someone else to take over this site. Unfortunately, it seems as the new owner wasn’t too busy getting started, and after some deliberation I’ve decided to take back management of the site.
My son bounced back an amazing five days post-operative, and went back to school after 8 days. He had a patch sewn in, after having been diagnosed with ASD as the reason for his recent asthma symptoms. We were aware of him having a heart condition since he was 6 months old, but he has been wrongly diagnosed all these years with “only” a pulmonary arterial stenosis, which we were told would heal itself as he grew older. Hopefully his asthma will be gone before long!
