April 26th, 2007:
After Rosie O’Donnel announced that she is leaving The View, blogs and papers are buzzing with rumors and suggestions on who to replace her. This is from The Detroit News:
Geena Davis: Strong, smart and in need of a day job after ABC canceled her TV run as the president of the United States, Davis could whip this morning show into shape.
Who could not agree on this? Take a look at the interviews section for examples on how well Geena fits in that couch! : D

April 23rd, 2007:
Geena is visiting Vancouver, CA, tomorrow, with the Unique Lives and Experiences lecture series. The Vancouver Sun has a neat interview with her this weekend:
Actress Geena Davis is not only beautiful. She is smart, too. Perhaps it’s no accident that her latest big role was president of the U.S. in the ABC series Commander in Chief. Wouldn’t she make a great president? After all, she is a member of Mensa with an IQ of 140. She is passionate about females in films, females in sports, females in politics. She looks good on camera.
She laughs at the question. Her voice can barely be heard above the sound of a hair dryer as she is getting ready in a hotel room in New York for some big do or other.
No, no, no. “I’m the fake president,” she says flatly, the sound of china clinking faintly over the phone. Someone has brought her tea.
That being said, she is a little at a loss for what to do next. I mean, what do you do after you play president of the U.S.?
She ponders aloud: “To get to be the president? I don’t know frankly, where to go from here. How am I going to play anything else?”

April 16th, 2007:
The UK car rental company Sixt Holiday Cars has conducted a survey where they asked their customers to vote for their favorite “road movie”. Not surprisingly to fans of Geena, Thelma & Louise was voted the top favorite! They ran – or drove, rather – off with a whopping 46% of the votes, while runner-up Easy Rider received 23% of the votes.

April 16th, 2007:
I will start this entry by blatantly admitting to keep adding a link to this site under the external links at the Wikipedia entry for Geena. I mean, with no official website, is this site not the most trustworthy site on Geena around? The user contribution based IMDb and the Notable Names Database (!) are left up, while Geena-Davis.net keeps being deleted? People are allowed to add silly trivia like how “Geena” appeared in a 80’s music video by Pet Shop Boys, while a link to a serious fansite with no paparazzi images and no gossip is not worthy a link? Grrr.
Sidenote: I’ve added an option to comment on content pages, I hope you’ll use it!

The Billie Awards recognize media excellence in women’s sports and physical activity. The event celebrates the positive portrayal of female athletes in the media. The Billies were held on April 11, 2007, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel, Beverly Hills, Calif., and featured a performance by Sir Elton John. Also in attendance were 40 champion female athletes including Billie Jean King. Getty Images Editorial has quite a few HQ photos from the event. Here’s a sample (click for enlargement), more pictures in the gallery.
“Geena Davis, star of “A League of Their Own” charmed the crowd and paid tribute to King because “she bucked centuries of accepted practice” in her fight for equality in sports and society.” Read the full report at the Out in Hollywood blog, there is also an interesting article in the Daily News.
