Geena will be one of several well known women to participate in the 2007 Smart Talk Women’s Lecture Series. The 10th annual event is billed as “a celebrity-based spoken word series” that gives the audience a rare look into the lives of the women featured. Geena will talk about that and her other roles over the years: model, pianist, competitive archer, producer, mother.
June 5: Geena visits Milwaukee. The presentations begin at 7:30 p.m. but are preceded by sponsor exhibits, including fashion shows by Boston Store on some nights. Doors open at 6 p.m. (more…)

Life@50 plus — AARP’s National Event & Expo, in its 5th year, will deliver three unforgettable days and nights filled with non-stop activity, information, fun and excitement to 25,000 attendees at the Anaheim Convention Center, Oct. 26 to 28. This national event features boldface name entertainers, 400 plus brand name exhibits, news-you-can-use lectures and hands-on health and fitness activities. Following the Oprah show this week, with Geena participating along with a handful other older actresses discussing the theme “Anti-Aging Secrets”, the Santa Monica Mirror has an interesting coloumn on the phenomenon of growing old in the Western (US) culture and what it does to (some of) us.

LA – Former President Bill Clinton and Geena Davis spoke at a rally at UCLA today on behalf of the California ballot measure Proposition 87, which aims to raise taxes on oil to fund alternative energy research through a California Energy Alternatives Program Authority.

Texas: Tyler Museum of Art volunteers announced Tuesday that Geena will be a special guest at the 2006 ‘Little Black Dress’ Fall Fête set for October 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum. The “Little Black Dress” event raises funds for the museum’s projects and programs, such as making art available to area students. Geena will attend a VIP reception, the event and assist with the art auction, a key annual fundraiser for the TMA.

UCLA held its annual Millennium Ball, a benefit gala, at the new Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Thursday. Though the hospital is not scheduled to open until September 2007, the benefit raised over $5 million for the new facility. The new building, designed by I.M. Pei, will house a medical center, trauma center and the Mattel Children’s Hospital.
Geena attended along with other high-profile celebrities like Julie Andrews, Nicollette Sheridan and Michael Bolton, Alicia Keys, and Ellen Pompeo.

Apologies for the long downtime, the server G-D.net is on was hacked and unfortunately it took some time before my host could fix it.
Geena news: she will appear on Oprah tomorrow, October 5th, on a show being tagged as “Anti-Aging Secrets of Great Women” (also appearing are Susan Sarandon, Norah Ephron, Sela Ward, Diahann Carroll, Diane Sawyer). Unfortunately, my regular source for TV clips has closed down, so if you know of a way to get a hold of this show, please do let me know.
