Geena key note speaker at the 2006 Black Tie Dinner
Site news
Time for a small site update; a few things have happened “backstage” lately and I figured it right to plug those:
We have two new affiliates; Lovely Lopez is a French fansite for Jennifer Lopez – who was last seen with Geena as they both were honored at the Women in Film’s Crystal and Lucy Awards earlier this month. A Feminist Critique of Animation is Genevieve Petty’s project where she is reviewing Japanese anime and Western animation from a feminist point of view. An extremely interesting site, and a perfect match for ours! We have also joined a webring called “Shield Maiden”; gathering websites which subject is a female person/character.
The Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance was plugged in my last entry; yesterday I came across a fan’s transcript of the show, and have put this up in the transcripts’ section. Thank you, Audrey!
The first of two DVD sets from Commander in Chief was released this week, and on Monday Geena appeared at a cocktail reception at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles to celebrate this. HQ pics from the event is up in the gallery!
Geena on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Thanks to Ed at InterviewsRUs.com we can now offer a clip of Geena on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week. She talks about the recent gala dinner with Chilean president Michelle Bachelet, about her kids and whether they’ve really grasped the idea of their mum as president (Geena joking that from their point of view, the part as Stuart Little’s mother probably overshadows anything else), about bowling and archery. Geena has a glint in her eye as usual, a really great appearance!

CinC TV-film up next – will it lead to a continued series?
Original story by Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith, 26 June, 2006
In the following article, Geena speaks about the planned Commander in Chief TV-film – which seems to actually be happening, once Lurie is finished with his current projects – and also the possibility that this film will lead to more episodes of the actual series.
CinC cover art released
Originally from TVShowsOnDVD.com
The artwork for the second of Commander in Chief’s two half-season DVD box sets is released, and below you can have a look at both covers. Both sets are available for pre-ordering from Amazon.com (click each image); the first set is released in two days from now, the second will be released in September.
Geena on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Geena is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel’s live talkshow tomorrow, June 22, at 12:05/11:05c. Being that they’ve cancelled CinC I’ve been expecting this appearance to be cancelled too. However, she is still listed as a guest on the official site today, one day before the show – so I guess it is going to happen! Thank you, Denise, for the tip!
CinC on break in Australia
Seven Network has decided to cancel Commander in Chief for the rest of the season, replacing it with Grey’s Anatomy. Sources can tell that the remaining episodes will be aired in 2nd half of the year, but no schedule at this time yet. Thank you, Antony!
CinC: Final episode airing tonight (US)
From Dusty Saunders’ coloumn for the Rocky Mountain News, 13 June 2006
FINAL EPISODE: If my e-mail and telephone messages represented the nation’s Nielsen viewers, Commander in Chief would be among the 10 most-watched television series.
Support for the series continues although ABC has officially announced the final episode (certainly not a finale) will air at 9 p.m Wednesday (Denver’s 7).
Added: someone has put a link here at the ABC message board, and the comments keep coming in as the show has reached its end in the US – go here to read them!
