Videos added

I’ve cleaned up the multimedia section a bit. I’ve added a YouTube video from Earth Girls Are Easy, showing Geena/Valerie trashing up her and her fiancee’s house while lip syncing (?) “Ground That You Walk On”. Sources have it that the movie version is Geena singing herself – and quite well, at that – while the soundtrack has Jill Jones performing the song. Anyone who can confirm this?

Other than that I’ve weeded out a few dead links, and added a new page with links to the talkshows/interviews Geena has done lately. They are all uploaded to sendspace.com, and will stay available 7 days after the last activity. Let me know if a link has died and I’ll reupload.

Geena earns herself an invite to Prince George’s County

Original stories via WJLA/NewsChannel 8, 28 April 2006 and Washington Post, 29 April 2006

P.G. Officials disapproved of how their county was portrayed on an episode of CinC. For a bystander the whole thing seems pretty wild..! “It is sometimes difficult for people who don’t know the facts, to seperate fiction from the facts”..? See the TV-story here, the following are extracts from the articles linked above:

In the episode that aired Thursday night, called “Ties That Bind,” President Allen watches a segment on the local news about civil unrest in Prince George’s during a protest over the high homicide rate and a lack of police protection. She then goes to the Prince George’s city of Hyattsville and gets out of her car in front of a restaurant advertising sweet potato pie, pork chops and chitlins.

kopaloff_001.jpg Geena was honored by the StepUp Women’s Network during their 3rd Annual Inspiration Awards Luncheon on April 27. She attended the event with Jasmine Anthony, the girl portraying her youngest daughter in CinC. From the SUWN website:

Each year, Step Up Women’s Network rolls out the red carpet and gathers 500-600 members, supporters, industry elite, and community insiders to honor three women who embody the spirit of Step Up through their philanthropic impact in the lives of women and girls. CinC viewer stats, US

Mobilize your family and friends, guys! Here are the rather pessimistic numbers after this week’s return of CinC

Commander in Chief wasn’t able to muster the troops in its return on Thursday.

The ABC drama averaged 8.2 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary ratings data from Nielsen Media Research.

In its new slot, Commander was defeated handily by CBS’s Without a Trace (18.6 million). It had a couple million more viewers than a repeat of NBC’s ER.

Thursday night belonged to CBS, which averaged prime-time delivery of 19.2 million viewers in the demo. The night’s top show was CSI, which averaged 23.9 million viewers.

TV schedule updated

Thank you, Nathan, for pointing me in the direction of Sky’s TV schedule. Their channel ABC1 is airing CinC on Tuesdays at 9pm, repeated on Sundays, and they are also showing The Geena Davis Show every day of the week – weekdays at 8:55am, weekends at 7:15am. To quote him: you Brits really have an embarrassment of riches at the moment! ;)

Geena Davis back in the Oval Office

By Kathy Blumenstock (The Washington Post – The Hartford Courant), April 13 2006

Another article from today’s papers, with a little bit of “flesh to the bone”

Geena Davis’ Oval Office has reopened for business now that the off-again, on-again political drama Commander in Chief has resumed its run. The show, which debuted last fall to much hype, has endured producer changes, an almost two-month absence from prime time and now a shift from Tuesdays to Thursdays, where it’s scheduled to air through mid-May. For fictional President Mackenzie Allen, that means global crises, political enemies and a looming election campaign, as well as domestic challenges such as moody teenage twins and a husband who chafes in the role of “first spouse.”
